Quality Control Based on the Approved Sample
For OEM and private label jewelry orders, quality inspection should follow a confirmed reference rather than a general visual standard.
Velcena Jewelry uses the approved physical sample together with confirmed specifications such as material, dimensions, plating, stones, components, logo and packaging as the reference for bulk production checks.
Our inspection approach applies to earrings, necklaces, rings and jewelry sets, bracelets, hair jewelry, brooches, charms and anklets. The actual checkpoints vary according to the product construction. A necklace clasp, ring size, brooch pin and earring post require different functional checks.
For custom projects, the production reference is established during Custom Jewelry Sampling before bulk manufacturing begins.
Incoming Material and Component Check
Quality control begins before the jewelry is fully assembled.
Depending on the order, incoming checks may cover metal components, chains, findings, clasps, CZ, glass stones, faux pearls, resin parts and other approved decorative components.
The purpose is to confirm that the required component type, dimensions, appearance and quantity are suitable for the approved production specification before additional manufacturing work is completed.
First Piece and Dimension Inspection
Representative first pieces are useful for identifying problems before larger quantities continue through finishing and assembly.
Checks can include:
- Overall dimensions and proportions
- Product thickness or diameter
- Chain or bracelet length
- Ring size
- Connection positions
- Component fit
- Structural consistency

Surface, Plating and Appearance Check
Surface appearance is reviewed after polishing and finishing because scratches, rough areas, uneven preparation or inconsistent plating can become visible at this stage.
Inspection may cover plating color, surface condition, brightness or approved finish, edges and visible connection areas.
Bulk pieces should remain reasonably consistent with the approved sample rather than relying only on descriptions such as “gold color” or “silver finish.” More detailed production information is available on Jewelry Plating & Coating.
Stone Setting, Assembly and Function Check
Jewelry with stones or multiple components requires additional inspection after assembly.
Checks may include stone position, missing or loose components, alignment and overall appearance. Functional parts are also reviewed according to the product.
For example, necklaces and bracelets may require clasp and connection checks, earrings may require post, hook or closure inspection, while brooches and hair jewelry require attention to pins, clips or other moving parts.

Logo, Final Inspection and Packing Check
Where custom branding is required, logo or engraving is checked for position, orientation, clarity and consistency with the approved sample.
Before packing, finished jewelry is reviewed again for the main order requirements, including product style, appearance, function, quantity and packaging.
Packing checks can cover jewelry cards, pouches, gift boxes, branded inserts and export cartons according to the approved specification.
Third-party testing can also be arranged when required for the product or target market.

Clear inspection criteria are easier to follow when the order specification is finalized before bulk production.
Buyers should confirm the approved sample, dimensions, plating, stones, functional requirements, logo, packaging and any specific inspection points before production starts. This gives the production and QC teams one consistent reference from first-piece checking through final packing.
